When Mata * was eight years old, she could not read and she could not speak, she would simply scream in order to express herself. She would walk in a hunched posture. People from her native village back in Africa called her "the crazy one". One day, when Bianca tried to evaluate Mata's scholastic ability, the girl grabbed Biancas breast for milk. After convincing Matas family that the little one needed help, Bianca and her husband took her in. Now 11 years old, Mata speaks and knows how to read. She stands up straight and has good manners. Although she may not be at the same level as her peers, she is making remarkable improvements. Mata dreams of becoming a model, which could help her socialize with others, improve her self-esteem and become more independent.
Collaborators
Following my appearances in the documentaries Enquêtes et Révélations and 90' Faits Divers on television, many teenagers and young adults have contacted me for help concerning important personal issues.
From victims of sexual abuse to youngsters who lost their parents, they had no one to turn to. Some wanted a thoughtful ear while others were looking for advice, sometimes even interventions.
After helping a few young souls for a certain amount of time, I was able to build a circle of trustworthy mentors with the collaboration of devoted individuals with different skill sets in such fields as psychology, social intervention and teaching. Each of us takes on three persons to care for at the most. We follow them for an unlimited period of time and give them advice to assure their proper development.

When she was 14, Valerie * was thrown out of her home by her mother - a broken woman unable to keep a job who lived with a violent alcoholic. (Before, another one of her mothers boyfriends had tried to kill Valerie with a kitchen knife. He is now wanted by the authorities.) Living in a group home, Valerie's expectations were low. She was good in school, but did poorly in mathematics. Looking for attention, she dressed provocatively. She was also victim of bullying. Since Valerie is with us, she has made great strides. She now wants to become a lawyer. She had 84% on her last math exam. Recently, Bianca - a high school teacher - joined us to help her as a tutor. We have offered Valerie a professional photography portfolio to show her how beautiful she is, inside and out, and to let her know that she doesn't need to show skin to get attention. Following my training on bullying, I have guided her through her own experience at school and everything ended up great.
Testimony of a sexual abuse victim:
"I have held this heavy burden inside me for years, only feeling shame because of what happened and that I didn't have the strength to prevent it. I have never had the power to talk about it, not even to my parents who are now unfortunately deceased. The abuse occurred when I was nine years old. I am 25 today and I feel as if I am finally free! I spoke to someone who was able to find the right words to make me understand that I should not be ashamed of what happened to me, that I had to help fight this type of abuse and that I shouldn't stay in my corner alone with this pain inside of me. I am feeling much better today. I feel alive, with the feeling of having been listened to, and especially understood by this person. Get rid of all these negative feelings; dont forget that you are not the only victim of this type of crime in this world. Thank you." -- Simon*
